Joerael is beautifully and fearlessly Joerael.
His connectedness to the purity of his spirit allows him to shed filters, expectations, agendas,
insecurities, and fears, and see clearly into people and projects. He finds the truth of the
moment by presenting himself to the universe as a conduit. And, regardless of what he sees
across dimensions and time and feels in the body his spirit resides in now, he holds it all in his
presence, many times fluidly blending mediums and genres until the vision is fully expressed.
Joerael’s expressions often feel ceremonial. You might feel the truth and swell with emotion,
but words may escape you. Or you might ride the lines in a mural like a child on a rollercoaster,
feeling the first big drop in the pit of your stomach. Your spirit hangs out with Joerael’s for a few
moments and they connect, and you go forward with something you didn’t have before.
Joerael’s energetic resonance often connects him with places, peoples and projects that at a
surface glance, might seem misaligned. But Joerael is part ally, healer, seer, seeker, and
fighter. When you are in the presence of a warrior you know it. The resiliency, courage and
boldness born of previous battles and hardships need not be spoken. They are felt in his
stability, heard in the transparency of his words, seen in the clarity of his eyes. And you know
you can stand shoulder to shoulder with him. Skin color, sex, age, no matter, this is your
brother. And so, Joerael has been called to start projects like Mobilize Walls, to create dialogue
and counter force to the US – Mexico border wall, and serve as an ally to black Americans by
painting and advocating for his mural on the campus of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
Joerael is an artist with many tools at his disposal, but he exchanges commercially most
frequently in commissioned murals, tattoos, paintings, drawings and lectures.
